GROUP-A RESULTS JULY 16TH

ARBORFIELD LEGION-B---—6-4--FRUIT BAT--

QUALIFYING FOR THE SUMMER CUP

PAUL HART put the home side in front when he beat Chris Downing and then MARTIN YAXLEY double their lead when he beat Chris Hood. The away team got a winning frame on the card when JAMES WALKER beat the ARBL-B captain Pete Titus but then ADAM PARKER-BENHAM made it 3-1 to the ARBL-B when he beat Phil Nixon. The final frame of the first half was won by MATT SHORT when he beat Jason Emmett to make the score 3-2  at the halfway stage.

PAUL PARKER put the ARBL-B team into another two frames lead when he beat the BAT’S Captain Steve Orchard but KHALID PERVAZ pulled another frame Back for the FRUIT BAT when he beat Martin Yaxley. A point was secured for the home side when ADAM PARKER-BENHAM beat Matt Short and then PAUL HART won his second frame to claim all three points when he beat James Walker and the final frame of the match was won by CHRIS HOOD when beat Pete Titus.

This was a very good win for the ARBL-B team and it now qualifies them into the summer cup and they could still yet win the group if the beat the POWA team next week.

The FRUIT BAT are third in the group but they could still yet finish in the bottom two it will all depend on the final groups matches next week.

EARLEY RETREAT-B---2-8--IRISH CLUB-POWA

BACK TO WINNING WAYS
It was top versus bottom and the POWA lost their 40'th match summer group unbeaten run last week and they didn’t want to lose two matches in a row. So the RETREAT-B team was really up against it.

The Open Singles champ DARREN PLAYER beat Kieran Watts to put the six times summer cup winners in front and then DAVE SHAW double their lead when he beat Callum Plowman and then SIMON BATES beat Chris Andrews to make it 3-0. But JAMIE ANDERTON made sure this wouldn’t be a whitewash and beat Kane Titcombe and the final frame of the match was finished by the team's captains and it was the summer singles champion JASON BATES who came out on top against Olly Copland.

The captains also started the second half and again it was JASON BATES who got the better of the RETREAT-B team captain Olly Copland to secure a point for his team. SHANE O’CONNOR made sure of all three points when he beat Kieran Watts and then SIMON BATES did the double over Chris Andrews to make the score 7-1.  JAMIE ANDERTON won his second frame of the match for the RETREAT-B team when Dave Shaw went in off after potting the black. And the final frame of the match was won by DARREN PLAYER winning his second frame by beating Callum Plowman.
A tough match for the EARLEY RETREAT-B team but at least they know what’s it like to play the best team in the league. Well done to JAMIE ANDERTON for winning both of his frames to prevent his team from a whitewash. The RETREAT-B will finish last in the group and play in the VASE knockout stages
Back to winning way’s for the champions and it’s a start to beat their 40 matches unbeaten run lol. The still need a result against the ARBL-B team next week to win the group.

GOOD COMPANIONS-B-----5-5--CURZON CLUB

THREE MATCH UNBEATEN
The GOODIES went into this game feeling really good after beating the POWA team last week and ending their 40 summer group match unbeaten run.

ASHLEY WOOTTON put the GOODIES in front when he beat the CURZON'S captain Alan Cooke but JEFF WHITEBREAD leveled the match when he beat Dominic Wise but again the home side went back in front when JOHN EVANS beat Daniel Sinclair and again the CURZON came back to level when DARREN CLIFT beat the GOODIES captain Paul Wisniewski and then the CURZON went in front for the first time when PETE ENDERBY beat lewis Eyre.

So now the away side has their noses in front at 3-2 will they control the second half and take three points.

JOHN EVANS won his second frame to level the match at three frames apiece when he beat Jeff Whitbread AND THEN Dominic wise PUT THE goodies BACK IN FRONT WHEN HE MADE UP FOR HIS FIRST HALF DEFEAT BY BEATING Darren Clift but it was all square again when the new CURZON signing STEVE BROOKER marked his debut by beating leis Eyre. Then for the fourth time, the GOODIES went in front when ASHLEY WOOTTON won his second frame by beating Pete Enderby to earn his side a point at 5-4. Now can the CURZON come back once again or win the GOODIES make it back to back wins. RICHARD LEWENDON made sure the CURZON left with a point by beating the home teams captain Paul Wisniewski.

Nearly back to back wins for the GOODIES but just a frame short but what a great match with both teams leading and keep coming back. And what I heard it was a great evening all around.
The GOODIES-B team fifth in the group but with one more group match to go they could end up seventh or third as it is so tight.
A good away draw for the CURZON against the team that beat the POWA and on the same table, I may add. Well done guys. The CURZON like the GOODIES could still end up third or seventh in the group.

TURKS----—5-5--TILEHURST LEGION

POINTS SHARED AT THE TURKS

As usual the TURKS captain GRAHAM NEALE got his team off to a winning start by beating Keith Southern but JULIAN WILKINS leveled with a win over James Margerison and then PAUL HONOR put the away side in front when he beat Dermot Cantwell but the home side came back when RHODRI DAVIES beat Steve Smith and then the final frame of the first half was won by MICHAEL TATHAM when he beat Dan Hatch to make it 3-2 to the TURKS at the halfway stage.

And MICHAEL TATHAM started the second half just as he finished the first half with a win this time against the TRBL captain Mark Williams and then RHODRI DAVIES won his second frame to earn appoint for the TURKS when he beat Keith Southern. So for the second week running the TRBL found them self’s 5-2 down but could they win the last three frames just as they did last week to earn a point. STEVE SMITH won his first frame of the summer when he beat Dermot Cantwell and then PAUL HONOR won his second frame to make the score 5-4 by beating James Margerison. So it was now down to the final frame of the match to see if the TURKS was going to record a third win of the summer or will the TRBL complete another good comeback and earn a good point. JULIAN WILKINS won his second frame by beating Graham Neal to earn his side a point.

A good match and as always good an evening at the TURKS and they are fourth in the group but it's so close on points they could still finish seventh or third.

For the second week, the TRBL had to come back from 5-2 to earn a point. And with me losing two frames last week and my frame this week all I can say is well done to the TRBL team. The TRBL is one of those team that could yet finish seventh or third.

BRAMSHILL HUNT--—3-7--FOX & HOUNDS

FIVE WINS IN A ROW

SIMON WEBB put the away side in front when he beat Aaron Higgins and then HENRY HARDING double their lead by beating Sue Hawkins but TOM MCDONNELL beat Mick Killick to put a winning frame on the card for the home side.  STUART CANNON made it 3-1 when he beat John Mcdonald and MARTYN WICKS won the final frame of the first half to make it 4-1 to the FOXES when he beat Dave Palmer.

A lot for the HUNT to do in the second half now.

LEE TAYLOR made it 4-2 when he beat Simon Webb but HENRY HARDING secured a point for the FOXES when he beat Jed Seaendee. Then JOHN MCDONALD beat Mick Killick to make it 5-3 but then the FOXES wrap up all three points when STUART CANNON beat Dave Palmer and then MARTYN WICKS won his second frame and the last of the match by beating Aaron Higgins.

Well, different players in the hunt team since they last played the FOXES but the same result so mean this HUNT team isn’t doing any worse than the old team hey. The HUNT is sixth in the group but good yet finish as high as fourth.

A fifth win in a row for the FOXES and even tho they have qualified for the summer cup they still haven’t won the group yet as they are just a point ahead of the SUN INN team.

IRISH LEGS-------3-7--SUN INN

QUALIFIED FOR THE SUMMER CUP

DAN FAULDER put the away side in front when he beat Josh Taylor and then MARK KENNEDY double their lead when he stopped his losing run by beating the LEGS captain Cain Randall. But PHIL NIXEY won a frame for the home team when he beat Nick Potton but then HARLEY HALL made it 3-1 with a win over Andy Randall and DARREN MUNN won the final frame of the first half to make the score 4-1 when he beat Bobby Lally

The LEGS didn’t start the second half as they would have like when MARK KENNEDY won his second frame to earn the SUN a point when he beat Scott Lincoln and when HARLEY HALL won his second frame by beating Phil Nixey it wrapped up all three points for the SUN INN team. BOBBY LALLY made it 6-2 when he beat Dan Faulder but DARREN MUNN won his second frame by beating Cain Randall and the final frame of the match was won by JOSH TAYLOR for the LEGS when he beat Nick Potton.

A fourth match in a row without a win for the LEGS but they fifth in the group and could yet still finish fourth and qualify into the summer plate.

Another good win for the SUN INN team and they are hot on the heels of the FOXES going into the final group match. They have now qualified for the summer cup..

A SECOND WIN FOR THE SUMMER

ETHAN REEVES Put the away team in front when he beat Paul Dorsett but the home teams captain PATRIK SULIK levelled the match when he beat Clarissa Staskiw and then HUBERT BANASIEWSKI  put the WHITE EAGLE in front when he beat Jo Chambers and then WILLIAM RUSSELL made it 3-1 with a win over the GOODIES captain Adam Garrett. The final frame of the first half was won by  KATE REEVES for the GOODIES when she beat Adam Stawnski.

Nothing in it at the halfway stage with the home side just with their noses in front at 3-2.

GREGORY DALY made it 4-2 when he beat Clarissa Staskiw and then PAUL DORSETT got his revenge over Ethan Reeves to earn his side a point. JO CHAMBER then got revenge over Hubert Banasiewski to pull the GOODIES within one frame of the EAGLES at 5-4. But AMAZINGLY WILLIAM RUSSEL won a SECOND frame of the evening, Yeah I know hard to believe isn’t it LOL. He beat Kate Reeves to secure all three points for his team. The final frame of the match was played out between the captains and it was the GOODIES captain ADAM GARRETT who came out on top by beating Patrik Sulik.
So the WHITE EAGLE found their second win of the summer and a win in their final group match next week could move them up to fourth in the group,

The GOODIES at the moment occupy fourth spot but just a point ahead of the WHITE EAGLE team who are seventh in the group.

CLIFTON ARMS-------—3-7--PALMER TAVERN

BACK TO BACK WINS

The PALMER had all the three points wrapped up even before the ARMS could win a frame.

The PALMER captains SHANE GAVIN got his team off to a winning start when he beat Meeko Oates and then DARREN CROSS made it 2-0 when he beat the ARMS new signing Chris Henderson and SAURAV GHOSH made it 3-0 with a win over John Davis and then ANDREW DEWSBURY beat Tommy Burns to make it 4-0 and the final frame of the first half was won by STUART PRATT when he beat the ARMS captain Chris Payne to secure a point.

CYRIL MULLAN won the first frame of the second half to wrap up all three points for the PALMER when he beat Meeko Oates and then DARREN CROSS made it 7-0 when he did the double over Chris Henderson. Then, at last, the home team got a winning frame when JOHN DAVIS beat Andrew Dewsbury and then TOMMY BURNS won a second frame for the ARMS team when he beat Saurav Ghosh and the final frame was also won by the home side when their captain CHRIS PAYNE got his revenge over Stuart Pratt.

So the ARMS saved some pride at the end by winning the last three frames, They are sixth in the group but could yet move up to fourth with a win in their last group match.

A second win in a row form the PALMER and they are starting to show how good they really are now. Maybe they took their feet off the pedals at 7-0 up but still a 7-3 away win is very good and they moved up to fifth in the group but they could move up to fourth or fall down to seventh in the group after the last group match next week.

CURZON CLUB-B---—5-5--BULL & CHEQUERS

BOTH SHARE THE POINTS
Both teams have the same points going into this match with the CURZON in second place by having better frames difference over the B&C.

MIKE KELLY beat Warren Bridgewater to put the CURZON in front but then JOHNNY BURNE beat Mark Duggan to level the match. RON IRVINE put the home team back in front when he beat Ryan Inglis and then GORDON PRIEST made it 3-1 when he beat Richard Cleves. The final frame of the first half was won by the B&C captain GAVIN KNIGHT when he beat Jamie Orr.

With the home side just ahead by one frame, it was all to play for in the second half.

MIKE KELLY started the second half just as he did the first with a win, this time over Richard Cleves to make it 4-2 but WARREN BRIDGEWATER beat the home teams captain Colin Smart to pull a frame back for the B&C team and then NICK MCDONALD leveled the match at four frames apiece when he beat Gordon Priest and the  for the first time in the match the B&C went in front when OLIVER KNIGHT beat Mark Duggan to earn the B&C team a point. So with one frame left the CURZON now 5-4 down was looking at a second defeat in a row. But RON IRVINE wasn’t having another defeat in a row and he went on to do the double over Ryan Inglis to secure a point.

So nothing to separate these teams and of course they stay as they were in the group. With one group match to go one of these teams will qualify for the summer plate or the cup.

After four wins in a row, the CURZON are now without a win in their last two matches.

The B&C is doing so well this summer and a draw against the third best team in the league was a great result for them. Could they qualify for the summer cup for the first time?

GEORGE & DRAGON-B--—5-5--ARBORFIELD LEGION

AS IT WAS BACK IN MARCH

The away side took the lead when JACK WOODWARD beat Jody Gill but then the home team went onto win the last four frames of the first half when KEVIN JEROME beat Ross Mckernan to level and then JAMES KEMP beat Matt Mckernan to put the ARBL into the lead and then JOHN GOODWIN made it 3-1 when he beat Steve Thame and the final frame was won by JAMES MAXWELL when he beat the ARBL captain Barney Mckernan.

So from leading 1-0 the ARBL team now find them self’s going into the second half 4-1 down, could they do anything about it.

STEVE THAME made it 4-2 when he beat Jody Gill and then the ARBL captain BARNEY MCKERNAN made it 4-3 when he beat Kevin Jerome and then JACK WOODWARD won his second frame to level the match up at four frames apiece when he beat James Kemp. But just as the ARBL got them self’s back into the match the DRAGONS went back in front when JOHN GOODWIN won his second frame by beating Matt Mckernan. So the home team with a point in the bag now had to win this final frame to claim all the point's but the ARBL will feel gutted to go away with no points after coming back from 4-1 down to level at 4-4 and then to lose. But ROSS MCKERNAN held his nerve and beat James Maxwell to make the ARBL leave with a point.

So the DRAGONS may feel it was two points lost after being 4-1 up and then a frame from their first summer victory. They will now finish last in the group and will play in the VASE knockout stages.

What a good comeback from the ARBL team from 4-1 down and then earn a point, in the end, well-done guys. They are seventh in the group on four points but they could still move up to fourth.

SIX WINS FROM SIX

SHAUN EATON put the group leaders in front when he beat the ALBION-A captain Matthew Burns and then BRAD O’REILLY made it 2-0 when he beat Melvin Pearce and then SEAN O’REILLY beat Brian Hall to make it 3-0. PETER COX won a frame for the ALBION-A team when he beat Connor O’Reilly and NOEL O’REILLY won the final frame of the first half when he beat Steve Priest.

The home side 4-1 down and a lot to do in the second half

MELVIN PEARCE made it 4-2 when he beat Shaun Eaton but BRAD O’REILLY secured a point for the away team when he beat Steve Priest. At 5-2 down now the ALBION-A team needed to win the last three frames to earn a point, PETER COX won his second frame by doing the double over Connor O’Reilly and then BRIAN HALL  got his revenge over Sean O’Reilly to make the score 5-4. So now it was all down to the captains to see if the ALBION-A team could complete a good comeback and be the first team to take points of the SIZZLING team.  But it wasn’t to be as NOEL O’REILLY beat Matthew Burns to claim all three points.

So the ALBION just fell short from taking points from the group leaders, Unlucky guys. They are doing so well this summer and are fourth in the group but only three points ahead of the seventh-place team.

So it was six wins from six for the SIZZLING team and they have won the group now but can they make it seven wins from seven next week.

BULL & CHEQUERS-B---—6-4--EARLEY RETREAT

FIRST WIN OF THE SUMMER

DONNA GWATKIN started the RETREAT team with a win against Rachel Galbraith but JORDAN RAFFERTY equalized with a win against the RETREAT’S new signing Ben Carter. But again the away side went back in front when JOSH JULIAN beat Brandon Taylor and again the B&C-B Team levelled when JOE PURCELL-CHALK beat Jordon Glaves. The final frame of the first half was awarded to STUART WAITE as the EARLEY RETREAT could only field out four players for this match.

Now the home team was in front for the first time in this match but only by that one frame.

JORDON GLAVES made up for his first-half defeat by beating Stuart Waite to make the score three frames a piece and then they away side want back into the lead when BEN CARTER won his first frame by beating Stephan Woodford. With the EARLEY RETREAT Leading 4-3 they know they only had one frame left to play and needed to win it for a point but unfortunately for them, CHRIS COULSON beat Josh Julian to claim all three points for the B&C-B team as the final frame of the match was awarded to JORDAN RAFFERTY.

So a first win of the summer for the B&C-B team but they would have preferred it if the RETREAT had a full team but that’s not the B&C-B team's fault and they took full advantage and they are now sixth in the group on four points and yet could move up one spot.

It was a shame the RETREAT team didn’t have a fifth player they were so close to getting a point here with only four but fair play to you four for turning up well-done guys. They are seventh with the same points as the B&C-B team and could move up one spot if the results go their way in the final group match next week.

SIX WINS FROM SIX

The PALMER-B team started with a win when KYRAN O’NEILL beat Paddy Kelly but then the KVC captain JOHN WITHERALL levelled the match when he beat the PALMER-B captain George Dodd, But again the home side went back into the lead when JAMIE SEYMOUR beat Perry Chance. But with the PALMER-B 2-1 up the KVC went on a seven-match winning run. The David Bryant Singles Champion DAN DAVY Made it two frames apiece when he beat Antony Flatman and the final frame of the first half was won by MARK INGRAM when he beat Alan Howard to put the winter cup winners a frame into the lead at the halfway stage.

PERRY CHANCE made up for his first-half defeat by beating Kyran O'Neill and then DAN DAVY won his second frame to secure a point for the KVC when he beat George Dodd and then MARK INGRAM wrapped up all three points with a win over Jamie Seymour. And the wins just kept coming for the KVC team when PADDY KELLY made up for his first-half defeat by beating Antony Flatman and the final frame of the match was won by JOHN WITHERALL winning his second frame by beating Alan Howard.

So the PALMER-B started well and seem to be in the match at the halfway stage but they just could stay with the winter cup holders in the second half. But it was the first defeat since the second week and they are fifth in the group and could move up one spot.

Another win for the KVC team and they have now won the group. But can they make it seven group wins from seven next week?

The SUN-B went into the lead again when AHA ENOX beat Lanzo Lewis. Then the ALBION team switched up a gear or two when TIM ENDEAN beat Vj Vijay to make it two frames apiece and then STEVE ALLEN put the ALBION into the lead at the halfway stage when he beat the SUN-B captain Martha Roper.

JUNIOR DAVIES made it 4-2 to the away side when he beat Martin Williams and STEVE HOOD secured a point with a win over Rich Wingrove. But AHA ENOX  won a second frame of the match by beating Javeid Sharif to make the score 5-3 and to give the home team a fighting chance. But STEVE ALLEN stopped any chance of any comeback from the SUN when he beat Vj Vijay to wrap up all three points. The final frame of the match was won by TIM ENDEAN by beating Martha Roper.

So the SUN-B team still looking for their first win this summer and it will feel good when it comes I'm sure of that. They will finish last in the group now and will play in the VASE Knockout stages.

A fourth win of the summer for the ALBION team and they are third in the group. They can’t drop any lower but in with a chance of moving into second place next week.

GREAT BATTLE AT THE TYLERS REST

PATRICK GRANT put the DRAGONS in front when he beat Ben Marriott but the home team came straight back with a win when WILL COOKE beat Warren Fogg but again the away side went into the lead when JARROD LEAHY beat his former teammate Ollie Alessandro but yet again the TYLERS REST came back to leveled this time their captain JAKE STEVENS beat Seamus Fogarty.  And the final frame of the match was won by IAN ADEY putting the home team in the lead for the first time when he beat Sean Dibley.

After coming back twice to level now the TYLERS REST went into the second half with their noses in front at three frames to two.

BEN MARRIOTT made up for his first-half defeat to put the home team 4-2 into the lead when he beat Jarrod Leahy. Then PATRICK GRANT won his second frame by beating Will Cooke to make the score 4-3 but OLLIE ALESSANDRO made up for his first-half defeat to secure a point for the home team when he beat the DRAGONS captain Paul Rawlings. The TYLERS REST captain JAKE STEVENS won a second frame to claim all three points for his team when he beat Warren Fogg. The final frame of the match was won by SEAN DIBLEY when he beat Ryan Stevens.

So a very good win for the TYLERS REST team and they stay second in the group but they could yet fall out of the top two if they lose to the only team that can leapfrog them next week the ROYAL ALBION.

It seemed one of those matches where if they had a return match the DRAGONS could Reverse the result. The DRAGONS are fourth in the group and can’t move up but have to make sure of a good result next week to not drop down in the group.
